About the event
Even in the barren, brown fields of winter, there’s a secret world of activity waiting to be discovered.
Join us as we search for the surprising presence of Horned Larks and American Pipits, small songbirds that blend into the landscape but reveal their beauty upon closer inspection.
Watch as these fascinating birds, with the Horned Lark’s distinctive yellow face, black mask, and tiny “horns,” search the fields for seeds and insects. You’ll also hear their high, tinkling songs filling the quiet winter air.
Despite their adaptability to various landscapes, from fields to deserts and tundra, Horned Larks have seen a significant decline over the past fifty years. This outing is not only a chance to witness these remarkable birds but also to reflect on the importance of conservation.
